Selection Process

The recruitment process will include several stages, such as the Physical Standard Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Computer-Based Test (CBT), Skill Test, Document Verification, and Medical Examination (DME/RME). Weight:

Proportionate/Corresponding to height and age as per medical standards (for males and females). Over/under weight will be disqualification at the stage of Medical Examination only.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

  • For male candidates: 1.6 Kms race in 06 minutes and 30 seconds.
  • For female candidates: 800 meter race in 04 minutes and 45 seconds.

Second Phase:-

Computer Based Test (CBT):

  • An outsource firm will conduct a Computer Based Test (CBT) for all candidates to qualify in the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
  • The Computer Based Test will consist of one paper with 100 objective type multiple choice questions.
  • It should be attempted in 01 hour and 40 minutes.
  • Question paper will be set in Hindi and English only.
  • Date & Centre of CBT will be informed to candidates via e-admit card (to be downloaded from BSF website), SMS & Email.
  • Marks scored by candidates in CBT will be normalized and such normalized scores will be used to determine final merit and cut-off marks.
  • The questions in the CBT will be of Intermediate level.
  • A mock test link will be available in candidates corner on BSF website to familiarize the candidates with CBT.
  • The number of candidates qualified in the CBT will be restricted to thirty (30) times the number of vacancies for the post of ASI (Steno/ Combatant Steno) and ten (10) times the number of vacancies for the post of HC (Min/Combatant Ministerial/Havildar(Clerk)).

Third Phase:-

Only those candidates who qualify/ are shortlisted in the CBT shall be called for the next stage of recruitment, i.e., Skill Test, Document Verification, and Medical Examination, which will be conducted at various centers of CAPFs & Assam Rifles.

Skill Test:

Shorthand test for ASI (Steno/ Combatant Steno) and typing speed test for HC (Min/ Combatant Ministerial/ Havildar Clerk):

Transcription time: 50 minutes in English or 65 minutes in Hindi on Computer.

  • The skill test (typing) will be conducted only on computers. Computers and keyboards for this purpose will be provided by the Recruitment Centres.
  • The mode, procedure, and method for conducting the skill test will be decided by BSF. The skill test will be of qualifying nature, and no marks will be awarded for it.
  • The skill test in Hindi shall be conducted only in the “MANGAL” font.

Documents Verification:

Candidates who qualify in PST, PET, CBT, and Skill Test will be shortlisted for Documents Verification.

  • Candidates should carry original documents and self-attested photocopies to the Recruitment Centres. These documents will be physically verified.
  • Departmental candidates must produce a ‘No Objection Certificate’ and ‘Disciplinary/Vigilance Clearance Certificate’ from the concerned authority.
  • Candidates need to bring three recent passport-size photographs and one original valid Photo ID Proof.
  • Candidates must submit copies of:
    • Matriculation/Secondary Certificate
    • Intermediate/10+2 Certificate
    • Documents supporting equivalent education qualifications claimed
    • Caste/Category Certificate, if applicable
  • For Ex-Servicemen (ESM):
