Refund of Examination Fee (for those attending 1st Stage CBT):
- Bank Details Submission: All candidates must clearly provide their bank details in the application form, including the bank name, account holder’s name, account number, and IFSC code, to receive the refundable portion of their examination fee (i.e., ₹400/- or ₹250/- as applicable, minus bank charges).
- Accuracy of Bank Details: The responsibility to furnish accurate bank account details rests with the candidates. The RRB will not address any correspondence regarding incorrect bank details.
- No Refund for Certain Applications: Examination fees will not be refunded for applications that are erroneous, incomplete, or rejected.
Exam Pattern
The RRB JE examination consists of two stages: the 1st Stage and the 2nd Stage. To be selected for the post, candidates must pass both stages. The exam is available in Hindi, English, and 13 Regional Indian languages, and features objective multiple-choice questions (MCQs). In the CBT, 1/3rd of the allotted marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer due to negative marking. The detailed structure of the online examination is outlined below:
1st Stage Examination:
The 1st stage CBT is a screening test designed to match the educational standards and technical qualifications required for the positions. The scores from this stage will only be used to shortlist candidates for the 2nd stage CBT based on merit. Candidates who are shortlisted and benefit from community reservations, PwBD, or Ex-Servicemen status will continue to be considered within their respective categories throughout the recruitment process.
2nd Stage Examination:
Candidates for the 2nd Stage CBT will be shortlisted based on their normalized scores from the 1st Stage CBT. The total number of candidates selected for the 2nd Stage will be 15 times the number of vacancies in each community for the RRB, based on merit in the 1st Stage CBT. However, Railways reserve the right to adjust this number up or down, either in total or for specific categories, to ensure sufficient candidates for all the notified posts.
Medium of Examination:
The CBT questions will be available in English, Hindi, and 13 regional Indian languages: Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Candidates must select their preferred medium of examination from these options when filling out the online application form.
