What is APTET July 2024 Exam?

The Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (AP TET) July 2024 is an examination conducted by the Department of School Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh. Its primary objective is to ensure that the teachers recruited in various educational institutions meet national standards and benchmarks for teacher quality, as stipulated by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

The AP TET is intended for candidates aspiring to become teachers for classes I to VIII in various schools under the control of the Andhra Pradesh State. This includes state government schools, Mandal Parishad, Zilla Parishad, municipality schools, A.P. Model Schools, A.P. Residential Schools, all Welfare Society Schools, private aided schools, and private un-aided schools.

Candidates who have already qualified in previous TET exams can also reapply to improve their scores. However, passing the AP TET does not guarantee a teaching position; candidates must also meet other qualifications specified in the relevant recruitment rules. The AP TET score is given a 20% weightage in the selection process for teacher recruitment conducted by the District Selection Committee (DSC), with the remaining 80% weightage based on the written test in the Teacher Recruitment Test (TRT).

Marks Memo / Certificate Validity Period:

  • The Marks Memo/Certificate of APTET–2024 will be available only on the APTET website.
  • There are no restrictions on the number of attempts for acquiring the APTET Certificate.
  • Candidates who have already qualified in APTET can retake the exam to improve their scores.
  • As per NCTE guidelines, the APTET certificate will be valid for a lifetime.
  • The NCTE guidelines dated 09.06.2021 support the lifetime validity.
  • The validity of TET qualifying certificates obtained before 09.06.2021 is also extended to a lifetime.
  • This policy ensures that all candidates, regardless of when they acquired their certificates, benefit from the extended validity.

Educational Qualification

  • Paper-1A: For teaching Classes I to V.
  • Paper-1B: For teaching Classes I to V in Special Education.
  • Paper-2A: For teaching Classes VI to VIII.
  • Paper-2B: For teaching Classes VI to VIII in Special Education.

The specific qualifications required for each category are detailed below.

Minimum Qualifications for Paper-1A (Classes I to V in Regular Schools):

  • Intermediate/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
  • (or)
  • Intermediate/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition norms and procedure), Regulations, 2002 (Note: This applies to candidates who acquired the qualification between 2002 and 2011)
  • (or)
  • Intermediate/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
  • (or)
  • Intermediate/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
  • (or)
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
  • Note: Relaxation of up to 5% in the qualifying marks is allowed for SC/ST/BC/PH candidates.

Minimum Qualifications for Paper-1B (Classes I to V in Special Schools):

  • Intermediate/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and Two-year D.Ed. Special Education in any category of disability
  • (or)
  • One-year Diploma in Special Education (DSE) in any category of disability
  • (or)
  • Diploma in Community Based Rehabilitation (DCBR) with a 6-month Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs
  • (or)
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Community Based Rehabilitation (PGDCBR) with a 6-month Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs
  • (or)
  • Diploma in Multi Rehabilitation Worker (MRW) with a 6-month Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs

  • Junior Diploma in Teaching the Deaf

  • Primary level Teacher Training Course in Visual Impairment

  • At least 50% marks in Graduation or Post-Graduation with Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).
  • (or)
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and 1-year Bachelor of Education as per NCTE norms.
  • (or)
  • Intermediate/Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).
  • (or)
  • Intermediate/Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and 4-year integrated B.A./B.Sc. or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
  • (or)
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1-year B.Ed (Special Education).
  • (or)
  • Post-Graduation with a minimum of 55% marks and three-year integrated B.Ed-M.Ed.
  • Language Teachers (Classes VI to VIII): Graduation with the Language concerned as an Optional Subject or Bachelor of Oriental Language (or equivalent) or Graduation in Literature or Post Graduation in the Language concerned with Language Pandit Training Certificate/B.Ed. with the Language concerned as a Methodology for Language Teachers.

Note:-

  • Candidates who enrolled in Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Elementary Education before July 29, 2011, are exempt from minimum percentage requirements in Graduation.
  • SC/ST/BC/PH candidates require a minimum of 40% marks in Graduation to qualify for Paper-2A in APTET July 2024.

Minimum Qualifications for TET Paper-2B (Classes VI-VIII in Special Schools): RCI Qualifications at Secondary Level

Application Fee

Note:-

  • The application fee for each paper (Paper-1A, Paper-1B, Paper-2A, Paper-2B) is Rs. 750/-.
  • Candidates must pay the fee through the payment gateway between 03.07.2024 and 03.08.2024.
  • Candidates with both D.El.Ed (general/ special) and B.Ed (general/ special) qualifications applying for all papers must pay Rs. 750/- for each paper separately.
  • After payment, candidates will receive a ‘Journal Number’ for reference. This number confirms fee payment but does not complete the online application submission.

Exam Pattern

The APTET exam is scheduled to take place from 03/10/2024 to 20/10/2024, featuring two daily sessions: Session-I from 9:30 AM to 12:00 Noon and Session-II from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM. The exam will be conducted in English and the candidate’s chosen language. It will consist of objective multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in a computer-based format, with each question carrying one mark. Each question will have four alternatives, out of which one answer will be correct. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.

There are two papers for the TET. Paper-I is for candidates aspiring to teach classes I to V, while Paper-II is for those aiming to teach classes VI to VIII. Candidates with both D.El.Ed and B.Ed qualifications who intend to teach either class level are eligible to appear for both Paper-I and Paper-II.

  • Child Development & Pedagogy focuses on educational psychology relevant to teaching and learning at the primary level.
  • Language-I: Candidates choose from Telugu, Urdu, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, or Odiya, studied up to Class X as the medium of study or First Language. CBSE/ICSE curriculum candidates can choose their studied language up to Class X.
  • Language-II is English for all candidates.
  • Language I & II syllabus includes proficiency in the language, elements of language, and communication and comprehension abilities up to Class X level.
  • Language I & II sections consist of 30 MCQs each: 24 MCQs on content and 6 MCQs on language pedagogy.
  • Mathematics & Environmental Studies syllabus covers topics from Classes III to VIII, with content and pedagogy up to Secondary Stage (Class X). Each subject includes 30 MCQs: 24 on content and 6 on pedagogy.
  • Detailed syllabus for all subjects is designed by SCERT and issued with the notification. Candidates should follow the current State syllabus textbooks from Class III to IX and the previous year’s textbooks (2023-24) for Class X. Candidates must refer to the 2016 and 2019 editions of D.Ed/D.El.Ed Telugu Academy/SCERT textbooks.

  • Child Development & Pedagogy in Paper II-A focuses on Educational Psychology relevant to teaching and learning at the Elementary level.
  • Language-I Selection for AP-TET Paper-2A & Paper-2B: Candidates can choose from Telugu, Urdu, Hindi, English, Kannada, Tamil, Odiya, and Sanskrit, studied up to Class X as either the medium of study or First Language in State Syllabus Secondary schools. CBSE/ICSE curriculum candidates may choose the language studied up to Class X.
  • Language Teachers selecting Language-I in TET Paper-2A must choose the language studied during their Language Pandit Training.
  • Language-II is English proficiency for all candidates.
  • Syllabus for Language-I & II in Paper-2A includes proficiency in the language, elements of language, communication, and comprehension abilities from standard VI to Senior Secondary Level (Class 12). Each section has 30 MCQs.
  • TET-2024 syllabus for Paper-2A and Paper-2B covers topics from Classes VI to X, with question difficulty up to Senior Secondary Level (Class 12).
  • Candidates should refer to current State syllabus textbooks from Class VI to IX and previous year’s textbooks (2023-24) for Class X.
  • Refer to 2016 and 2019 editions of D.Ed/D.El.Ed/B.Ed Telugu Academy/SCERT textbooks for preparation.

Medium of Question Paper:

The Question Paper will be bilingual. It will be in English followed by the Language-I chosen by the candidates for all languages except Sanskrit. For candidates choosing Sanskrit, the questions will be in Telugu followed by Sanskrit (Devanagari Script).

Pass Criteria of APTET-2024:
