The written examination will be conducted at selected centers on the date and time fixed by the Indian Coast Guard, which will be communicated to all candidates through online admit cards. There will be one composite paper based on the post applied for. The question paper will be objective type with multiple choice questions in a Computer Based Examination and shall consist of the following subjects depending on the post applied for:

Syllabus

The Indian Coast Guard Navik (GD) & Yantrik Recruitment 2024 notification does not mention the detailed syllabus. It states that the detailed syllabus for sections I & II is available on the ICG website. However, syllabuses for sections III, IV & V are not mentioned anywhere. Therefore, candidates are advised to refer to previous years’ question papers and study materials available in the market or visit study centers. Stage-I:-

(a) Document Verification (Provisionally ‘Pass’ or ‘Fail’):

At Stage I, candidates’ identities will be verified against the details provided in their online applications. Candidates must bring the following documents to their examination center for verification:

  • Valid Original Identity Proof: Aadhaar Card (preferred), PAN Card, Voter ID card, Driving License, or Passport, as submitted/uploaded in the online application.
  • E-Admit Card: One colored printout (black & white printouts are not allowed).
  • Photographs: Two passport-size color photographs with similar facial features as uploaded in the online application.
  • SC/ST Applicants Only:
    • Original category certificate and two self-attested photocopies of the SC/ST certificate.
    • Original train/bus ticket, canceled cheque leaf for NEFT payment, and travel form downloaded from the website for claiming TA.

(b) Biometric Recording:

Candidates who clear document verification will undergo biometric recording at Stage I. The biometric data captured at Stage I will be verified and/or recaptured at subsequent stages, i.e., Stage II, Stage III, and Stage IV.

(c) Online Examination:

After Document Verification and Biometric Recording, candidates will proceed to the Online Examination. There will be one composite paper based on the post applied for. Stage-II:-

Based on performance in the Computer Based Examination and the handling capacity of ICG Recruitment Centres, candidates will be shortlisted for Stage II and provisional E-admit cards will be issued. To download the E-admit card, candidates must upload additional documents within the given period mentioned on the ICG website. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of candidature. Stage II lasts 1-2 days and will be conducted at an allocated center. It involves the following qualifying examinations, resulting in either a provisional ‘Pass’ or ‘Fail’:

(a) Assessment and Adaptability Test:

Biometric-verified candidates will undergo an OMR-based written examination. This test is qualifying in nature, and the marks obtained will not be included in the final merit list. The result will be announced an hour after the examination. Only those who qualify will proceed to the next phase, the PFT.

(b) Physical Fitness Test (PFT):

Candidates undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk. All candidates are advised to be in possession of sports attire (shoes, T-shirt, trousers, etc.). The PFT consists of:

All three test of PFT are to be carried out in continuity without any break. Any break in three tests will lead to failing the PFT.

A board will assess the height, chest, and weight of the candidates according to the physical standards outlined below:

Height standards may be reduced by up to 5 cm below 157 cm for candidates domiciled in Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Garhwal, Sikkim, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Height standards may be reduced by up to 2 cm for candidates domiciled in Lakshadweep.

(c) Document Verification:

  • Information in the online application must match original documents:
    • Class 10th/12th/Diploma mark sheets
    • Identity proof (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Driving License, or Passport)
    • Category certificate
    • Individual subject and aggregate marks/CGPA (as applicable)
  • Any mismatch/error will lead to:
    • Failure in document verification
    • Cancellation of candidature
  • Documents must be issued on or before the application closing date.
  • Validity of all uploaded documents must be at least until April 30, 2025.

(d) Medical Examination:

  • Initial Assessment:
    • Conducted by the Medical Officer.
    • Candidates are assessed for medical fitness according to laid down standards.
    • Candidates will be declared fit or unfit.
  • Appeal Process:
    • Candidates declared unfit can appeal.
    • Referred to a designated appeal medical center (allocated by ICG).
    • Must report to the appeal medical center within 21 days from the date of the initial medical examination.
  • Appeal Medical Examination:
    • Only specialist opinions from a military hospital are admissible.
    • The appeal medical examination is final.
    • No further appeal is allowed at any other or the same hospital.

Stage-III:-

Candidates who qualify Stage I and Stage II and stand in merit as per the available vacancies will be provisionally shortlisted for training at INS Chilka and will be issued provisional E-admit cards. The duration of Stage III is 1-2 days. As INS Chilka is a Naval training establishment, the verification procedures in place there will be applicable. Stage III involves the following:

(a) Document Verification (Provisionally ‘Pass’ or ‘Fail’):

  • Information in the online application must match original documents:
    • Class 10th/12th/Diploma mark sheets
    • Identity proof (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Driving License, or Passport)
    • Domicile Certificate
    • Category certificate
    • Individual subject and aggregate marks/CGPA (as applicable)
  • Any mismatch or error will result in failure of document verification and cancellation of candidature.
  • Documents must be issued on or before the application closing date.
  • Validity of all uploaded documents must be at least until April 30, 2025.

(b) Final Recruitment Medicals at INS Chilka:

  • Final medical examination is conducted at INS Chilka for all selected candidates.
  • Depends on the time gap between the recruitment medical examination during Stage II and reporting at INS Chilka.
  • Candidates declared unfit will have an appeal option at designated centers (INHS Nivarini/INHS Kalyani) within 21 days.
  • Candidates must travel to the selected Military Hospital and back at their own expense for the Appeal Medical Examination.

(c) Submission of Original Documents, Police Verification, and Other Associated Forms:

  • Submit original documents, police verification forms, and other associated forms with the E-admit card at Stage III.
  • Police verification must be from the place of domicile or present residence, obtained after the last application submission date.
  • Candidates without verified police reports or with adverse comments will not be eligible for enrollment.

Stage-IV:-

Candidates undergoing training at INS Chilka must submit all original documents during Stage III. Verification of these original documents will be conducted by the Indian Coast Guard through Boards/ Universities/ State governments. If any documents are reported as not genuine by the respective Boards/Universities/State government, the candidate will be terminated from service.

  • For SC/ST/OBC (Non Creamy Layer)/EWS applicants, the current or permanent address in the online application must match the address mentioned in the category certificate {SC, ST & OBC (Non Creamy)/EWS}.
  • EWS certificate must be in Govt. of India format available on ICG website. No other format will be accepted.
  • OBC (Non Creamy Layer) certificate should follow the format for appointment under the Govt. of India, bearing QR/bar code for online verification. Format available on ICG website. Any other format will result in cancellation of candidature.
  • Applications with blurred photographs, thumb impressions, signatures, or documents will be rejected during verification. Clarity of images is mandatory.
  • Ensure all uploaded documents are legible, readable, complete, and scanned in full. Merge all pages of documents like Date of Birth Certificate, Category Certificate, Identity proof, Class 10th, or Class 12th into one file for upload.
  • Incomplete or partially scanned document uploads will lead to cancellation of candidature.
