Understanding the exam pattern is crucial for effective preparation. The selection for officer positions will be based on merit, determined by performance in the online examination and interview. The format of the online examination is as follows:
- The above tests, except for the Test of English Language, will be available bilingually, i.e., in English and Hindi. The Test of English Language will be of qualifying nature, i.e., marks obtained in English Language will not be added while preparing the merit list.
- Marking Scheme: Each correct answer will be awarded 1 mark.
- Negative Marking: There will be a deduction of ¼ mark for each incorrect answer.
Syllabus
The official notification for the Bank of India Officers Recruitment outlines broad categories such as English Language, Professional Knowledge relevant to the post, and General Awareness with special reference to the Banking Industry. While the specific topics are not listed, we can make educated guesses based on typical bank recruitment exams. Here’s a breakdown of potential topics for each section:
- English Language: Grammar, Vocabulary, Comprehension, Synonyms, Antonyms, Sentence Correction, and Error Detection.
- Professional Knowledge relevant to the post: Subject-specific knowledge depending on the officer’s cadre, which may include Finance, Accounts, Marketing, IT, HR, etc.
- General Awareness with special reference to Banking Industry: Current Affairs, Banking Terms, Recent Developments in Banking, Regulatory Bodies, Monetary Policies, and Economic News.
Selection Process
Selection will be through an online test and personal interview, depending on the number of applicants/eligible candidates. In case an online test is conducted, the weightage (ratio) of Online Examination and Interview will be 80:20. The combined final scores of candidates shall be arrived at based on the total scores obtained by the candidates in the Online Examination and Interview. A candidate should be found suitable in both the Online Examination and Interview to be eligible for final selection.
A merit list of the candidates, based on the marks obtained by them in the Online Examination and Personal Interview, will be prepared in descending order for the respective categories, i.e., SC/ST/OBC/EWS/GEN. The final selection will be made based on this merit list up to the number of vacancies.
In case of equal marks obtained by two or more candidates, the merit order of such a group of candidates will be based on the marks obtained in the Online Examination, i.e., the candidate securing higher marks in the Online Exam will be placed higher in the merit list. If the marks obtained in the Online Exam are also equal or the online examination is not conducted, the merit order will be based on the Date of Birth, i.e., the candidate senior in age will be placed higher in the merit list.
