Selection Process

The selection process for the RRC CR Apprentice recruitment is merit-based, focusing on candidates’ academic performance rather than a written examination. A detailed merit list will be prepared, taking into account the marks obtained in both matriculation and ITI in the relevant trade. Below are the key points outlining the selection criteria and process.

  • Selection is based on a merit list derived from matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate) and ITI marks in the relevant trade.
  • The merit list is created using the average of matriculation and ITI marks.
  • All subjects’ marks are considered for matriculation, not just the best or selected subjects.
  • ITI marks are calculated based on the average from the consolidated statement or Provisional National Trade Certificate.
  • For SSC marks from specific boards, a midpoint of grade ranges will be used, treating each subject as out of 100 marks.
  • In case of ties:
    • Older candidates will be given preference.
    • If the dates of birth are the same, the candidate who passed matriculation earlier will be preferred.
  • The final merit list will be organized by cluster/unit, trade, and community, in descending order of marks.
  • Candidates selected in the final list must:
    • Verify original documents.
    • Submit a medical certificate as per the provided annexure.
  • A Registration number is issued during the online application, which candidates should retain for further communication and stages in the selection process.

Salary and Training Details

Apprentices will receive a monthly stipend based on their National or State Certificate. The initial stipend is ₹7,000 per month.

  • First Year: Apprentices start with a stipend of ₹7,000 per month.
  • Second Year: The stipend increases by 10%, raising it to ₹7,700 per month.
  • Third Year: An additional 15% increase is applied, bringing the stipend to ₹8,855 per month.

This structured increase in stipend reflects the growing experience and skills gained during the apprenticeship training.
