What is NIEPID?

The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID), formerly known as the National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped (NIMH), was established in 1984 in Secunderabad, Telangana. It is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. NIEPID provides quality services to persons with intellectual disabilities, aiming to improve their quality of life and help them live independently.

NIEPID has three regional centers located in Noida/New Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai, and a Model Special Education Center in Noida/New Delhi. The institute focuses on human resources development, research, care and rehabilitation models, documentation, consultancy, community-based rehabilitation, and outreach programs.

The institute offers various training programs, from certificate to master’s levels, in areas like early intervention, rehabilitation psychology, special education, and disability rehabilitation. It also conducts research to address the needs of persons with intellectual disabilities and publishes a quarterly newsletter and a bimonthly bulletin.

NIEPID organizes international and national conferences, seminars, and workshops in collaboration with voluntary organizations and parent associations. The institute works at the grassroots level to provide services such as identification, screening, assessment, training of local resource persons, and delivery of services to persons with intellectual disabilities.

Note:-

• Age, qualifications, and experience will be considered as of the last date for receipt of applications.
• Legible copies of all certificates must be attached with the applications.
• Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable as per GOI norms for SC/ST/OBC/PH/Ex-Servicemen/employees already working in Central Government Departments for regular posts.
• The cut-off date for determining eligibility will be the last date of submission of applications.
• For contractual posts, the maximum age limit is 56 years, reckoned as of the closing date for receipt of applications.

Selection Process

• Application Submission: Candidates need to submit their applications in the prescribed format within the specified timeframe.
• Screening: A Screening Committee will shortlist candidates based on the eligibility criteria, qualifications, and experience mentioned in the application.
• Written Test/Interview: Short-listed candidates will be called for either a written test or an interview, as decided by the Screening Committee.
• Final Selection: The final list of candidates selected for NIEPID Recruitment 2024 will be based on their performance in the written test or interview and subject to verification of documents and certificates.
• Communication: Only short-listed candidates will be individually notified about further proceedings. No interim correspondence regarding the recruitment process will be entertained.

• Application Submission:
  • Download the application forms for various categories:

  • After downloading, take a printout and carefully fill out the application form.
  • Attach self-attested copies of certificates in support of educational qualifications, experience, caste, disability, etc.
  • Send or submit the completed application form along with the necessary documents to the Director, NIEPID, Manovikas Nagar, Secunderabad- 500009.
  • Ensure that the application reaches the specified address by July 19, 2024.
  • Applications received late, incomplete, or not in the prescribed format, and those not mentioning the post applied for along with the Serial No. and regular/ contractual status, will not be considered. No correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
• Envelope Details:
  • The envelope containing the application should be superscribed as “Application for the post of _________ (Regular/ Contractual).”
  • Clearly mention the post applied for and the Serial No. of the post as per the notification in the application form.
  • Indicate the Institute/ Centre and whether the application is for a regular or contractual position.
• Government/Public Sector Applicants:
  • Applicants serving in Government/ Public Sector Undertakings/Autonomous Bodies must send their application through the proper channel for regular posts.
  • Employees of the Institute are also required to submit their applications through the proper channel.
• Demand Draft:
  • Submit a non-refundable Demand Draft (DD) of Rs. 500/- drawn on any nationalized bank in favor of Director, NIEPID, along with the application.
  • Clearly mention your name and the post applied for on the backside of the DD.
